January 2007 - “18th Man” on BMW Oracle’s America’s Cup AC entry. This month's speakers are Kellie
Fennessy and Mike Priest, who will tell us of their recent trip to Valencia, Spain, where they viewed firsthand
the preparations for the 32nd America's Cup and spent an afternoon as the "18th man" aboard BMW Oracle's
AC entry. These boats are incredible, and Valencia has done an amazing job to be a world-class location for
yacht racing, so there should be a little something in this talk for everyone!

February 2007 - Learn To Sail Expo
Have you ever wanted to learn how to bring a boat into the dock under sail but don’t have the boat or the dock
to practice with? Have you ever thought “I can do this” until you take the tiller? Do you know what a tiller is?
Do you have a log book filled with hours but no Captain’s license?

Do you want to learn how to sail?

Come to the Women’s Sailing Association’s “Learn How to Sail” Expo. Yes it’s true and it’s not our club that
will teach you how. This lucky February the 13th the local sailing school talent of Marina del Rey comes to
WSA as a panel of experts to explain the “ins” and “whys” of sailing school. Come hear sailing made easy
through training from Blue Water Sailing, Blue Pacific Sailing, Fairwinds Yacht Club, UCLA, Marina Sailing and
California Sailing Academy and find out how to get on board and start sailing.

Whether it is learning how to step on a boat without falling in the drink, chartering a boat to Catalina and
beyond, or obtaining your 50 ton Captain’s license, these schools can make it happen.

March 2007 - “Taking care of your (boat) bottom"
The topic this month is "Taking care of your (boat) bottom". Speaking will be Dennis Castaneda, who has had
his own boat maintenance and bottom service in Marina del Rey for over 20 years. Dennis will talk about
ways to keep your boat's bottom clean and healthy, and will be bringing some"props" (actual props too!) for
everyone to check out.

April 2007 - Pacific Cup Regatta with Avghi Constantinides
This month we'll be hearing from WSA's own Avghi Constantinides about her adventure racing to Hawaii in
last summer's Pacific Cup regatta.

May 2007 -ASMBYC’s Sportsman Of The Year – Mike Leneman
The speaker will be ASMBYC's sportsman of the year, Michael Leneman. Michael will give us helpful hints and
handy tips on how to stay on the boat and what to do if there's no boat to stay on ... Mike Leneman is a
well-known sailor in the multi-hull circuit and a former professor of Oceanography. He currently owns the
company Multi Marine and has designed and built a number of boats.

June 2007 -Puerto Vallarta Race and Baja Bash – Paul DeLuca
Speaking this month is Paul DeLuca about the PV Race and the Baja Bash. Paul has many great photos, and
interesting stories about two of the days with 50+ knot winds!

August 2007 -Sailing Through Life with Kevin Wixom - Commitment, Achievement, Teamwork
SAILING THROUGH LIFE is a presentation that illustrates lessons that can be applied to your personal and
business life as seen through the experience of competitive sailing. Pictures, video, and stories from the 2005
Transpacific Yacht Race take you on the race and give you a glimpse of what 2 weeks in the Pacific Ocean is
like. Even more importantly, this presentation relates these experiences to daily life – both professional and
personal – so that the experiences can be used as motivational lessons for anyone interested in building great
teams, overcoming incredible challenges and being successful.

September 2007 -Communication at Sea with Charles Pasqual
The speaker this month is Charles Pasqual, who will be telling us about "Communication at Sea". Don't forget:
Social hour is from 6.30-7.30pm in the SMWYC bar area-bring a friend. This is definitely a meeting that you don't

October 2007 - South Pacific Cruising with Jean Adam
If you like the idea of cruising the South Pacific, this month's speaker is for you: Jean Adam will tell us about
cruising the Cook Islands, Samoa and Tonga with her husband in their yacht "Quest".

November 2007 - The speaker this month is Gail
Hine. Gail is a former commodore of the Southern California Yachting Association and is board member of the
National Women's Sailing Association. She will be speaking to us about the upcoming Women's Sailing
Convention, to be held Feb 2, 2008 here in Marina del Rey (at DRYC).
