On February 12th, our speaker will be Vivian Callahan.
Vivian will share pictures and memories of the 4 1/2 months she spent sailing from Hong Kong to Borneo, Singapore, Georgetown Penang, Malaysia, ending in Phuket, Thailand. She is an avid sailor and has cruised extensively world-wide. She’s also a mountain climber. Currently, she is a Professor of Communications at Santa Monica College and a freelance writer / producer / editor / director.
We will start the New Year off with a bang on January 8th with an update from Beaches and Harbors. Debbie Talbot is the boating section head of the new Department of Beaches and Harbors Boating Section. This Department was created to make MdR a more “boater friendly” marina with an emphasis on promoting recreational boating, boating issues, communications, facilities management, and environmental best management practices.
The 24th Women’s Sailing Convention at the Bahia Corinithian Yacht Club in Newport Beach, California, on Saturday, Feb 2, 2013. There will be a WSA “flotilla” from MdR leaving Jan. 31, spending the night in Long Beach, and arriving in Newport Harbor on Feb. 1.
