About our Speaker:
Alicia Stratton has been exploring the Channel Islands since 1969. With a lifelong passion for the ocean, Alicia has an extensive background in marine biology and environmental conservation.
She earned a degree in Environmental Biology from UCSB, is a USCG licensed captain and SCUBA certified. She helped with salvage operations and explored underwater, and earned her USCG license while working at Island Packers. Her career includes working for The Nature Conservancy and the NOAA Marine Sanctuary, as well as a role with the County APCD focusing on marine engine exchange and ship/whale collision monitoring.
She and her husband built their 42-ft. catamaran (AKUA KAI) and can now be seen sailing and anchored around the islands. She currently works for Road Scholar (formerly Elder Hostel) teaching kids and adults about the Channel Islands and snorkeling.
