Intro/Bio:
We are very lucky to have our own Captain Kathy St Amant speak at our May meeting, providing an introduction to nautical charting.
Captain Kathy St. Amant is a 100 ton licensed Coast Guard Captain with over 5 decades of boating experience. It seems adventure finds Kathy even on day sails. To fully chronicle Kathy’s 50+ years of sailing experiences would fill a thick hardcover book. In the SoCal sailing community she is known as an educator, advocate, coach and highly decorated yacht racing enthusiast. She has been involved in virtually every yachting organization, serving in leadership positions, training, mentoring, and as winning skipper in a long list of yacht races. She has crossed oceans, racing and delivering yachts. She has taught on virtually every sailing subject, from beginner to professional, including nautical charting. Kathy is co-owner/skipper of “Rascal”, with Monica Chaban, both WSASMB members. Together, they’ve dominated races in Marina Del Rey. Kathy is also a college professor, jewelry designer and creator, video editor, and more. There’s nothing Kathy can’t do, or hasn’t done.
